No other track has hosted more DTM races since the series premiere in 1984. Since 1984, the season opening race has been held 21 times in Hockenheim, and the finals have been held 28 times in Hockenheim.
The installation of the east curve gave the Hockenheimring its famous oval shape and, in conjunction with the track widening, turned it into a high-speed circuit

Race Review The team, driver and manufacturer titles of the 2023 DTM season go to Manthey EMA and Porsche. A double victory in Saturday's race crowns Manthey EMA as Team Champion early on. Thomas Preining (Austria) wins both races at the Hockenheimring.
The 4.574-kilometre Hockenheimring features the longest lap time in the DTM calendar 2023. In a total of 17 corners and on six straights, overtaking is comparatively easier than on other tracks of the season. With its numerous corners, the Hockenheimring is not considered a classic high-speed circuit. Similar to the Red Bull Ring, however, a compromise between sufficient downforce and aerodynamic drag is crucial when alternating between high-speed and winding sections. These conditions meant that the Manthey EMA Team could look forward positively to the last race weekend of the season. Top-five results, if possible podium finishes, were set as targets for both races. With the help of such top scores, all three championship titles for team, driver and manufacturer were to be won at the season finale.
Already in Saturday's race, Austrian Thomas Preining and Norwegian Dennis Olsen decided both the team championship for the Meuspath team and the manufacturers' championship for Porsche with a one-two. With pole position on Sunday morning, Preining was also able to prematurely clinch the drivers' championship and held an unassailable lead of 28 points before the start of the race. Preining's victory in Sunday's race rounds off the successful debut season of the Meuspath team. Manthey EMA and Thomas Preining thus also give the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer the first titles in DTM history.
The commitment to the DTM will remain in 2024 for the upcoming season. The next challenge for Manthey EMA is already scheduled for February with the 12 Hours of Bathurst. Further details on the 2024 DTM entry will be announced at a later date.
Quotes on the DTM season finale: Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH: "DTM Champion 2023 - I couldn't have imagined it better. It's been an incredible first season and I'm very proud of every single one of the team, the drivers and our entire company. We have had incredible support from every member of staff and I am very grateful for that. A big thank you also goes to everyone at Porsche Motorsport who are part of our success. In 2024, we are now the chased and I hope we can tackle the mission of defending the title in exactly this constellation."
Olaf Manthey, founder of Manthey Racing GmbH: "Another milestone in our company history. I am very proud of the entire team, the drivers and how the story has continued by Nicki and Martin since 2013, ten years now. I'm excited to see what comes next."
Dennis Olsen, Porsche 911 GT3 R #90: "For the first race on Saturday we had a very good starting position thanks to a strong qualifying with pole position from Thomas and my third place. After the race start I was able to move up directly to second position. From then on, the goal was to have Thomas' back in order to win the maximum number of points for the championship. Personally, I am happy about my second place. A great day for the whole team. Qualifying on Sunday didn't go so well. Starting from 17th, the goal was to try and finish in the points. After a good start, I was hit on the rear by another car in turn 6. From then on, I just tried to give everything anyway. A successful pit stop helped us to make up places and finish the race in 13th position. I'd like to thank the whole team for their efforts and for never stopping believing in me throughout the season."
Thomas Preining, Porsche 911 GT3 R #91: "A dream weekend crowned with the biggest success of my career so far - DTM Champion 2023! The whole season was super and to end it all with the two victories here at the Hockenheimring is something very special. I enjoyed putting on a show with our donuts after the race with Dennis - this weekend will remain in my memory as the highlight of this season. Now we'll celebrate - we've deserved it together with the whole team!"
