No other track has hosted more DTM races since the series premiere in 1984. Since 1984, the season opening race has been held 21 times in Hockenheim, and the finals have been held 28 times in Hockenheim.
The installation of the east curve gave the Hockenheimring its famous oval shape and, in conjunction with the track widening, turned it into a high-speed circuit
